is
always
dangerous,
but
it
is
the
safest
thing
we
have.
ETA: I posted the photo and quote at 1AM when we got home from the fireworks. However, this morning, I had to add this good news. Just after 7, we received a phone call from Doug's sister that her daughter, my favorite niece Becky and her husband had just delivered a baby boy, Gordon James, here in Logan. This is especially significant because it was on this day that Becky's brother, David, was killed in a car accident after the fireworks, thirteen years ago. Ironically, it was about the same time of morning, 3:30 AM. Anne was going to check David's death certificate and see the times, but acknowledged that they were very close. When she called, my first question was "What time?" Anne's words were, "Now we have a happy memory to associate with this day." I'm so thrilled for them. Not that the memory of David will ever go away, but what a gift to have a special cause to celebrate again on this day! Through the years, this day, one of my most favorite days of the year, even though we continue to celebrate and gather and enjoy each other, the thought of David passing on this day always lingers. I think that it's a tender mercy! In it's own way, another sort of "freedom" for the family. Enough said.
Happy 4th! And congrats on the addition to the family!
