This morning, as I was sending Quayd out the door, the sky to the south was amazing! I grabbed my camera quickly to snap this shot! This morning, I'm appreciating the time change because had it happened an hour later, I'd have been to busy getting the girls ready for school and would have missed this moment of splendor!
Today is our son, Dale's thirty-first birthday. It's hard to imagine that I have a son that old...especially since some of my closest friends today went to school with him or are his age. Thirty-one years ago today, I became a mom when I delivered a very cute nine pound baby boy with auburn hair. (Please pass where that came from? His beard still has it!) We're as different as night and day. But, I have to admire him for the fact that he is passionate about all that he believes in. He loves his daughter and being a dad. He respects his father. He appreciates nature and the earth. He's an animal lover. He has a powerful mind and a strong will. I don't understand him, but I love him. Happy birthday, Dale!
ZJ came upstairs last night after bedtime and asked, "Mommy, is there anyway I can earn three quarters?" She was excited about a new vending machine at school with some sort of notebook. This morning, at just after 7, she was up and asking, "What can I do, Mom? I'll do it right now!" She took out every trashcan in the house...in her jammies and slippers and winter coat. Too cute. I love that she knew not to just ask for a handout but wanted to earn it.
Grace has been begging for curls since Halloween afternoon when we took ZJ's curlers out for her Shirley Temple costume. Last night, it was her turn. This morning, when we took the curlers out, she bounced around for an hour. She already has curly hair but she thought this was pretty exciting. I had to take a picture. Strange thing to me...these curls made her look much older. She's growing up too quickly!
I found a desk for ZJ to repurpose for her new room. It will be today's project. (Unless a better offer presents itself...Taipan anyone? Lunch?)
I called my OB/GYN this morning for my annual physical. The receptionist informed me that he's taking appointments for JUNE for physicals. JUNE!?!?! Seriously? Don't even get me started! I just asked for him to give me a call. Maybe before March. Oh well, at least I can check that off my list!
I wanted to mention a very quick and easy dip that we enjoyed this weekend. In one of those little tiny crockpots made for dips, melt 1 - 8 ounce package cream cheese, 1 can of chili and 1/2 cup of salsa. I actually mixed mine in a saucepan, heated it all and then put it into the crockpot. So quick and easy and a very tasty dip! Oh, the recipe called for chili without beans. I only had regular chili and it was num! I'm not a chili fan but, as always, cream cheese makes everything wonderful!
Last, Audra, please, if you're reading today, could you send me your email address? Thanks!
The rest of the week gets busy. Today, I'm playing with paint, hanging out at home and getting some things done. Tomorrow, paying bills and a long list of running errands, then playing all weekend. Life is good!
If it's not fun, you're not doing it right.
ZJ looks adorable with curly hair! And beautiful pic you took this morning! Will keep in mind this dip recipe...
