a busy day: By 7:15 this morning, I'd already made the first of my four trips to Logan today. Yesterday, I made three. It's time for fifteen trips to the dentist until everyone's bi-annual work is done. We were just informed that ZJ needs braces. That's $4000 off the bat. The joys of parenthood. I guess I shouldn't complain. Only three of the six kids needed them, right? And we love our dentist!!!
a mission: Last night, Doug and I went out to test-drive a new vehicle for him. His old van is on it's last leg. We'll be buying Used, of course, because we could win the lottery and Doug would never buy a brand new vehicle or have a car payment. He's too much of a Dave Ramsey fan. ""PAY CASH!" I was raised that you get a brand new car every other year and having a car payment was part of life. Another difference that makes us work so well together. Live and learn.
an activity: Last night, for Family Home Evening, we went for a walk in the beautiful weather and discussed things that we saw around us that reminded us of scriptures. It was amazing, what the kids came up with. A fence reminded Gracie of the Walls of Jericho coming down. Quayd said that we were walking into the wilderness like the Lehi's family and like the people of Moses. A thorny bush reminded us of the crown placed on the Savior's head before he was crucified. It was really a fun activity. Oh, and we had strawberry shortcake for dessert! A taste of spring, even it the weather won't bring it! Last night, more snow in the mountains and rain in the valleys.
a friend: As we were about two blocks from home, we ran into "the other Doug Corbridge"(I know, what are the chances?) and his lovely and wonderful wife, Dorothy, who I adore, adore, adore. We stood on the street and caught up on eachother's lives for almost an hour. We've not seen much of each other since the ward and stake boundary changes last May, even though we live four blocks up the same street. Oh my gosh, I love Dorothy. She is one of those people that makes everyone feel like they are just her best friend and that they are the most wonderful people on earth. It's a gift that she has and I love her for it. I never leave Dorothy without feeling wonderful and happy and without a deeper appreciation of her example. Dorothy just plain makes me want to be a better person. Doug teased as we walked away because he enjoys seeing us both just talking ninety miles an hour to each other anytime we meet . Her husband Doug is as quiet, gentle and kind as my Doug. Dorothy and I are both chatty and social. We can go to lunch and sit without realizing that it's been three hours. Seeing them made my day!
a couple funnies: Speaking of Doug teasing me, here's two conversations with my sweetheart, who always makes me laugh with his dry humor, another reason that I love this man:
- Me, holding a necklace, asking for help with the clasp: "Babe, can you please put this on?"
Doug: "Yeh, but, it would look much better on you." - Me, as Doug is reaching over the stove with an open gas flame while I'm making oatmeal: "Careful, it's on high. I don't want you to catch your hoodie in fire." Doug: "I hate it when ya catch on fire. It can ruin your whole day."
a schedule: This week is insane! Tonight, we have a parents meeting about Quayd's week long scout camp. Tomorrow night is game night. Thursday night is Book Group. (I might want to start reading that book today or tomorrow.) Friday night is Date Night. Saturday, we're looking for a car. It's always funny to me how you can have a week long vacation or go on a trip and then come home and do double time making up for the time you had off.... you need a vacation to rest from your vacation or to recoup from catching up from the vacation. Life is good... I'd much rather be busy and involved than have nothing to look forward to each day.
Enough said!
It's not so much how busy you are, but why you are busy.
The bee is praised. The mosquito is swatted.
I love Dave Ramsey! Following his baby steps has completely changed our financial future! WOO HOO!

I find myself loving the busy too. As Raegan gets older and into more activities which bring with them new friends and opportunities for playdates, I find the schedule gets busier and busier. I am keeping a planner, and actually relying on it all the time! :)
