Yesterday was a happy day for this mom! Favorite niece Brooke sent me a few links to the photographs she took of the girls last week and the video to her awesome online photography class. I had not checked her website in a while and loved the intro to her website. If you've got a few minutes, it's worth taking the time to "meet" Brooke, the niece that I carry on so about all of the time. She plays piano in the intro and, honestly, there's no music that I love more. She's amazing. Below are a few of my favorites of the pix. I posted a gazillion on Facebook yesterday, but couldn't wait to share them here today.
Liza and Buddy dropped by last night at about 8:30 for a bowl of minestrone soup and cornbread. (They'd both worked late.) Liza came into the gallery to see the girls photos and noticed the lamp on my desk (the one that was purchased in January when I redecorated.) She said it seemed different. I thought about it for a sec and noted that I had changed the lightbulb (which did brighten it completley.) Doug walked into the conversation to hear only, "I changed a lightbulb." He immediately responded with a high five and "Good job!" as if it were the first and only bulb I'd ever changed! I resemble that comment! I've changed at least two others in my life! ;) Oh how I love having a husband that takes such good care of me... and that is such a tease!
Liza called yesterday morning just laughing. She said that she'd had a dream that we were already on our trip to North Carolina. (We spent some time last night checking flights and can't wait!) She said that in the dream, we were eating hushpuppies and I found a bandaid inside mine. I took out the bandaid and said, "It's okay, it's still good!" and ate it anyway. She said out loud, "Mom sure loves her hushpuppies!" I love that she dreamed about the trip because it tells me that she's really as excited as I am about going back to see Dad and meet her cousins! Can't wait for September!
Yesterday, we had quite the surprise storm that blew in...microburst winds, thunder, lightning, rain, hail. Awesome storm! But. It did quite a bit of damage across the state. Definitely, a soup day! Today, the sun is shining and there's not a cloud in the sky. Lovely!
This morning, I won two tickets to see the 70s band "America" on the radio. When I called Doug to tell him, he said, "Congratulations, I think?" The free concert will cost a night in a hotel in Wendover Nevada. (We hate casinos!) two meals eating out and a tank of gas. Lucky! ;) We have always been big America fans though. Hmmm. We'll see.
This weekend, we'll be attending the funeral of Doug's Aunt Agnes. She is the wife of his oldest Uncle Ivan. Her son is Elder L. E. Corbridge of the First Quorum of the Seventy in the LDS Church. Aunt Agnes was such a lovely woman, tall and thin and always so graceful. She was always full of encouraging words and an exemplary wife and mother. She lived well into her 90s and was still completely living independent. What a gift! This weekend, we'll gather together as family to celebrate her life and shining example. I'm anxious to learn things that I never got to know about Aunt Agnes. Doug and I love every opportunity to spend time with his extended family. Aunt Agnes will be greatly missed.
Also on the agenda... Doug's mom's birthday today, a family gathering with our children and the B's for Easter, teaching my Relief Society lesson and date night. At some point and time, we may color eggs and have a hunt. We aren't big "Easter Bunny" players. We do baskets but they are from Doug and I, not the Mr. Bunny. We do celebrate the reason for this season, the atonement and resurrection of Christ, with much joy and gratitude!
Beautiful pictures - their smiles say it all. Life is good!
