It's beautiful outside! We finally have sunshine and I believe that my daughter Gracie is to blame. She's prayed desperately that we'd have a good day today because it's her class swim day. Her class outdoor parties have been rained out more often than not, all through her elementary school years. So, she's been determined that this year, it would be bright and sunny. According to the weather reports, it's the only day this week to expect pleasant weather. So, thank you, Gracie!
In the middle of dinner last night, I became violently sick to my stomach. I was perfectly fine one minute and then WHAM! Doug was certain that it had to be some sort of food poisoning. I had a lonnnng night. This morning, I'm fine but still a bit queasy. I'm staying home rather than welcoming my visiting teachers, going visiting teaching myself later and having lunch with my old friends from North Logan at Olive Garden. I'd tentatively planned for a Girls Night Out movie late tonight too. What a sad day to get a bug! However, at the moment, movie popcorn doesn't even sound appealing!
Finale week on TV. Our favorite. We loved watching Dancing with the Stars last night. They were all winners to us! American Idol finale tonight. Again, both are winners! Oprah's final shows have had me in tears each day this past few weeks. Tomorrow, I'll call Direct TV and go on Pause for the summer. This season, it's been DWTS, Idol, Biggest Loser, Castle and Survivor, of course. We did catch a few episodes of Celebrity Apprentice. Ugh. I don't think that I've had the TV on HGTV all year. Hmm? For us, that's plenty of tv. A few months without TV is a good thing.
Yesterday, I took Quayd into a podiatrist. We learned that Quayd has extra bones in his feet. He will be treated with orthotics. The doctor believes that he will most likely need surgery in the future to remove the extra bones and then some reconstruction. Interesting. We had no idea until we've recently noticed that he's walking differently, as his feet grow. And apparently, Gracie has the same issues, only milder. (He looked at her too, since she was there.) By the way, this doctor, who I'd never even heard of, has to be one of the most beautiful human beings I've ever seen. Think George Clooney and Donny Osmond combined. And he was as friendly as he was good looking. We really loved his sense of humor. It's always a plus to love a doctor that you're going to have to spend several years with! Oh! And Quayd had me rolling in laughter with his "foottalk", as he called it. He told his "little buddies" that they would be just fine, that he'd be right there with them. That boy! He's a character!
Last night, Quayd and ZJ went to the restroom at the grocery store. While Quayd was in the Mens room, two"older" guys with tattoos and facial piercings started bullying him. Quayd locked the stall door and stayed inside. ZJ has finished first, next door, and could hear what was going on inside. She said she didn't know what to do, so she just started calling out Quayd's name. They apparently heard ZJ and left. It frightened him, so, he waited a minute before coming out. He handled it well, but Seriously? I wish I'd have seen them! I let the assisstant manager know, not that he needed to do anything, just so that they were aware. He told me that this was a repeat incident. So, he appreciated the heads up and was anxious to review the security video. This is so out of character for our little community. Not amused.
ZJ spent twenty minutes this morning trying to convince me that she needed to stay home from school today. She's "so over fourth grade". Okey dokey, then, Zeej. BUT. You're still going! Three and a half more days. Woohoooo!
Speaking of woohoooo! Yesterday, I dropped by Wendy's for a bit. We played a game of Hand and Foot. At one point, I drew the right cards and said, "woohoooo!" Miki repeated it! She repeated several little sounds, so I said, "Love youuuuu." She said, "Love you!" It's so fun to watch her learning and growing! Life is good! Always full of surprises! But, goooooood!
Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
That is so scary what happened to Quayd! I hope they catch those creeps! Yikes!
It's good that Dr. McDreamy diagnosed Quayds' foot problem early. From your description of him, I think I would think of something that would be wrong with my feet. ;-) And Quayd cracks me up, too. He's too funny! :-)
