Signs of summer at our house:
- Eating dinner at 8
- Going to bed even later than normal
- Sleeping in
- Towels, Towels everywhere
- The sound of neighbors
- The TV is off
- The sounds of water splashing, Marco Polo and more splashing
- Pool toys tossed all over the lawn around the pool
- The smell of chlorine
- The swamp cooler running at full blast
- Towels, towels everywhere
- The frequent purchase of shaving cream for my legs
- Breakfast dishes on the deck table
- The sound of the springs on the trampoline even late at night
- The scent of sun screen on everyone in the house
- Cottonwood trees shedding their cotton until it looks like it’s snowing
- The sound of the mosquito truck spraying latenight
- An increased use of bandaids for cuts & scrapes
- Late nights on the deck
- Towels, Towels everywhere
- The sound of irrigation sprinklers all night long
- The sound of crickets all night long
- The sound of the icemaker every few minutes
- The smell of grease from burgers, dogs and steaks on the grill
- Towels, Towels everywhere
- Grasshoppers in the garden
- Birds hovering in the cherry trees
- The sound of lawnmowers running early in the morning
- Blanket tents in the back yard
- Grass clippings trailing inside each entrance of the house
- Extra fingerprints on the deck door

Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action.
