Gracie got off before it was even bright and early this morning. She was wide awake and came upstairs on her own at 4AM. By the time I took her to the church, she was pretty tired and I'm guessing that she slept on the bus on their two plus hour trip to the camp. But, she was so thrilled! I didn't let her see my tears when we said goodbye. But, I did have a good little cry! It's just not right that they grow so quickly!
Great news! I called my dad as he was driving home from the hospital that he'd had all of his cancer treatments over the past few months. They have one more test next week, but so far, every word is that he is cancer-free!!!! He told me that when they told him to come back for the last test next week, he said, "I don't know why I have to be tested again, I don't have cancer." YAAAY! I was so thrilled to hear his positive attitude... considering that when he wanted me to come visit him last spring, it was to "say goodbye". No goodbyes now! I can't wait to go and visit him in the fall! Isn't that awesome!
Doug and I took the Quayd and ZJ out to dinner for Family Home Evening. I can't believe how many times today I thought about Grace and missed her. The second photo is of Gracie's Beehive Advisor, Sister McCoy. Grace just adores her!
Doug's cousin's son, JC, was injured in Afghanistan while detecting roadside bombs. He has some serious injuries incident to the explosion and has been shipped to Germany and now will be returning to the states for more medical attention. Thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. I so look forward to the day that all of our soldiers are back home in the states safely!
Carol and I met at Chili's for an afternoon chat that lasted two hours. I love our time together! We always find things to laugh at, to cry at (or want to) and to get excited about. Today, we discussed a few very tasty sounding recipes that she's just enjoyed. I need to get the recipes to share because they sound divine! A fruit recipe, a salad and a treat! Coming as soon as I get them!
Speaking of divine... Liza attended the baptism of a niece over the weekend and said that her sister-in-law served fresh sliced fruit with sweetened condensed milk drizzled over it and a dab of cinnamon sprinkled on top. She said that it was heavenly! I'll be trying that one in the next few days for sure!
I never did get Liza's birthday interview. We talked for a few brief moments in the afternoon. I called and sang Happy Birthday, she said, "Thank you!" and then, "Who's this?" Of course she was teasing but it was a good laugh. I love this girl! It's 11:07 and I had to think of her birthday cake in the kitchen, didn't I?
Tomorrow, a bit of school shopping, a photo shoot, lunch with Denise and keeping busy enough to try not to miss Gracie too much! I did try to teach ZJ a card game today. She got it, but Speed isn't something to play when both partners aren't equally fast! Enough said about that.
Last night, Doug and I both slept less than three hours. I'm going to be a good girl and go to bed instead of having that piece of cake that's screaming my name! Life is good!

Great news about your father, Praise the Lord! You must be so looking forward to your trip to visit him in the Fall. Praying for JC, it's about time to send all the troops back home.

I'm sorry to hear about JC. It's terrible that this war has drug on and on. I hope he will get good medical care and that he will be healed quickly and fully. My brother is in Afgh. right now as well and I pray for his safe return. This is his 4th deployment to Iraq/afgh. and if u ask me that is WAY to many. I hope all the boys will get to come home soon.
how is Max by the way?
