Medical update: The ultrasound says no gallstones. Today, an Upper GI - lovely. Next week, a HIDA test, which is some sort of IV injected die directly into my gallbladder... I'm told it's not pleasant and lasts two hours. Lovely. Doug says "whatever it takes". So, that's what we'll do. I see dollar signs and pain. I did spend two hours with my wonderful foot zone friend tonight. Hopefully, we'll have answers soon.
Casey Anthony: I'm stunned. ABSOLUTELY stunned by the verdict. I'm grateful to live in a country where we are innocent until proven guilty. However, in this case, I think that the jury got it wrong. That's just my opinion, but I know that I'm not in the minority, like the jury was. However, the jury's opinion was all that mattered. I do believe that the jury had a much more limited awareness of the facts than the rest of the world, due to technology. Just amazing, the whole thing. I do commit to never spend a dime on anything, not even a People magazine, that would create profit or gain as a result of little Caylee's death... nada. My heart hurts.
I do have to share what happened here at home when the verdict was read. I've been very guarded about the details of this story with the kids. They knew that a little girl was killed and that her mother was being tried. We've talked about juries and trials and penalties. But, no details whatsoever. They did know that today was the verdict. They asked how she could be "Not guilty" when everything thought she was guilty. (They've heard us discussing it.) Here was my example: If I caught Quayd sneaking a piece of candy and it was in his mouth, I would knowthat he was guilty. If I found the wrapper on his bed in his room, I'd have evidence but could not be absolutely certain that it was him who'd snuck the candy. I could assume and presume and suppose but not definitely. I'd have to decide. Once that candy was swallowed and the toilet flushed the next day, there'd be absolutely no tangible way for me to every know if he was the one, even though I found the wrapper on his bed. That's what happened here.
After we had this little analogy, ZJ said, "It's okay, Mom. Heavenly Father knows and now she'll have to face Him. He can even make thunder. She's in big trouble." And that's all that needed to be said.
On the other hand, I was most impressed with Jose Baez' remarks at the press conference after the verdict. He acted with dignity and humility. My heart was softened toward him. Cheney Mason, however... a very sore winner. Ugh. Enough said about that!
No, wait. One more thing. How awesome is it to live in a world where we can witness things live and experience things as they happen. I love technology!
A few wonderful things about this day:
- I'm listening to fireworks as I type. I love July!
- I got to visit and catch up with two friends, one who's been traveling for weeks, after I'd been in for the ultrasound. I was so happy to get out of the house and to feel well enough to enjoy it!
- I called Dad this afternoon. When he answered, I said, "Hi, Dad!" He said, "Hi, darlin! I love you!" I can not express how awesome it is to have my dad in my life! He's doing great and should have some tests done in a few weeks to see how the cancer treatments went.
- Life is good!
Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.
Casey Anthony, not guilty??? Couldn't believe it but then remember O.J. Simpson's verdict... Then too I couldn't believe the verdict... But as your smart little daughter said, one day she will have to face our Heavenly Father. Praying for all your medical tests.

i absolutely believe that Casey Anthony had something to do with her daughter's death. Am I dissappointed she wasn't found guilty of anything other than lying to the police? Yes. There simply wasn't enough evidence to convict her of murder. However, there most certinally was enough evidence to convict her of child abuse/neglect/abandoment .. who doesn't report their child missing for over 30 days?!
ZJ is wise for someone so young! You're doing a good job with those kiddos mamma!

I agree with your comments about Baez and Mason. I was very impressed with Baez's comments. Cheney Mason's comments and the picture of him giving the middle finger to the press as they celebrated in the bar is appalling and disgusting. Enough said!

I've had the die- it was no big deal for me, and the upper GI. Good luck. They never found a thing wrong with my gallbladder. I hope they can give you an answer.
