We're home! The Corbridge Reunion was just perfect! Everyone had a blast, as always. This was the first year that we have had the tent trailer to take along. It was ideal! Buddy had to work all weekend, so we were able to have Liza all to ourselves. Not that I don't adore Buddy, but this was the highlight of my summer... Liza all to myself! SO NICE! She spent a lot of the time in the trailer with me (my body was not cooperating at all most of the weekend), playing a new game and just hanging out together! I was so grateful to have Liza to myself because of the fact that I just stayed put. Doug and the kids rode horses and kayaked in the river and enjoyed the hayride (which I heard was one of the best ever, and I had to miss it!) I gave Doug my camera for the weekend. He didn't take many photos and the few that he took weren't that great, but hey, beggars can't be choosers, right?
A few random thoughts about the whole weekend:
- We hadn't been home for an hour when Kelly sent me a text. I had a few friends ask if I was going to post it on the blog. NOT. Along with the text, that said she was in major pain, was a photo, which is the reason I'm not sharing. Let's just say that one of Kelly's enhancements is no more. It had to be removed in the ER this afternoon because of the staff infection from the doctor's last little attempt to make things right. Quite frankly, I'm feeling like this doctor needs a lobatomy and Kelly needs a refund. She's got scars everywhere from all of his attempts to make things right. AND the plastics surgeon from our valley, who did the work tonight, could only remove one, because it was emergent. Please pass Kelly getting rid of the other, as well, and chalking this up to experience. It won't happen, but a mother can wish, can't she? Enough said. SIX surgerical procedures later.
- The highlight of my ranch time with Liza was playing a new game called "Strut". It's a dice/card type game with 20 dice that you have to roll and try to come up with random combinations, assigned on the cards that have chickens on them. Very very fun game. I came home and went straight to Amazon to order my own. They don't carry them! I neeeeeeeed this game!
- The best part of the actual reunion was the famly meeting, which we have on Friday evenings. Rather than the formal program, that I thought was going to happen, there was an impromptu evening of memories of the ranch, with the entire family (over 120 of us) there. There was laughter and tears. Lots of laughter. The thing that was most impressive to me was that in every situation, there were instances where prayer had played an important part of the story. Doug's family always amazes me and I feel it an honor to be called a Corbridge. This is something that I can't put into words, but these people are truly amazing and a gift in my life. Enough said about that.
- Gracie had the time of her life at her girls' camp The whole experience sounded awesome. She was thrilled about her "leap of faith" (zipline experience), which sounded scary but fun! I was most excited to hear every detail, but my favorite thing was that she'd talked 20 minutes before she mentioned the fun stuff about the spiritual experience that it had been for her. I was so grateful for her safety and the fact that she "got it". She definitely matured a bit during the week with older girls. It's still hard for me to imagine the babes growing up so so quickly!
- I've GOT to find that game! Enough said!
A crazy busy week... catching up on laundry after a few days at the ranch... planning a bridal shower for my new niece-in-law...school shopping...and hopefully, some casual summer fun! Life is good!
If you treat an individual... as if he were what he ought to be and could be,
he will become what he ought to be and could be.

Try board game geek. They have a game called "Strut" with chickens, but I don't know if it's the one you are looking for.
I hope Kelly heals well. I know my mom's reconstruction after breast cancer was problematic, her incision popped open, leading to infection, and a lapor-thing-a-majig to complete the new construction. I know it didn't feel good and wasn't any fun at all.

Looking at these pictures, I can help but notice that your kids are really growing up, specially Quayd, he doesn't look like a kid anymore! I don't know how much Kelly paid for all these surgeries but you are right, she needs a refund and I think the surgeon who did her procedure should be reported to the College of Plastic Surgeons. You wonder how many other women went through the same ordeal as Kelly.
