- It was a great day...just totally casual. We never left the house except for a walk over to Connie's garden and holy cow! This is her first garden ever and it's A.MAZ.ING! Not a weed to be found, corn taller than I've ever seen grown in Utah and everything looks just beautiful. I came home with a big bag of greenbeans and squash and cucumbers. We've got tomatoes galore coming on but nothing else. I'm totally impressed with Connie's green thumb! WOW!
- Other than that, my day's highlights consisted of resanitizing the kitchen after the fly attack at the BBQ last night and studying. I enjoyed reading much of the day. It reminded me that only a week from now, the babes will all be in school again when I'll have my whole days to read and study all I want. Hmmmm. I will miss having them around. BUT. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I do love my days when the house stays clean all day long and no one asks for a thing. Being a mom... the best of both worlds...depending on the day!
- Liza called after a "phone interview" for a job today. We're just hopeful and praying really hard that they both get decent jobs before Buddy starts to school. They went down and found a place to live, got registered and set up for school, but they couldn't get jobs until they arrived. I'm certain that things will fall into place for them but it's hard not knowing. I'm very proud of them both for their efforts!
- Carol's coming over tomorrow, I think?, to spend some time together before she goes back to work/school. I'm so impressed with how much time teachers give to preparing and getting ready for the school year!
- This morning, I hit the official "I love 20 pounds!" mark on the scale. Not 19.6 but 20! Woohooo. There's good coming from eating so healthy!
- We had a phone call last Friday morning at 4:19AM from Wells Fargo Bank. I was so ticked, I hung up. This afternoon, I got another one, on my cellphone again, telling me that I needed to reactivate my debit card, due to fraudulent activity. First of all, I have a card because my name is on Mom's account but I've never used it. The recorded call said that to begin, I'd need to enter my 16 digit debit card number. NOT!!! I hung up and called WF bank. They said that this has been a big problem for them lately and that they would report it. I mentioned it on FB and got several responses privately and publicly. Apparently, it's happening often. NEVER give your numbers to ANYONE over the phone unless YOU call THEM! If they're calling you and they are legit, they'll HAVE your numbers already. That's my public service announcement for the day. ;)
- While the kids were at Scouts/Young Womens tonight, Doug, ZJ and I ran over to McDonalds for a Yogurt Parfait. Sheesh! When did they cut the size in half? It was the perfect size for my appetite these days but man-oh-man, that was a baby treat!
- My great-aunt, Pearl, is turning 103 this week. The family is having a celebration in Baltimore. Oh, how I wish I could be there with them all!
- I think I'm going to host a little Mom's back to school brunch in a week or two. My brain is cranking!
- I can't believe summer is over. everyone I know has commented on how short this summer has felt. It's because we had a nine month winter last year, but, I have to admit, as much as I have loved it, I'm longing for fall. It hit me this morning that I may be in North Carolina for soup day! Our first snow should arrive in the mountains within the next four weeks. We'll be singing Christmas music in no time. Life flies right on by, so make the moments count!
I'm not even spellchecking tonight. The babes and I are having a sleepover and I need to attend to them! Life is good!
If you knew everyone's story... there is not a person you would'nt love... Mother Teresa
You give the best PSA of any blogger or FBer I know. Thanx.
I agree...for Liza and Buddy, everything is so perfect that I am sure they will the employment they want...if not want, then need.
