Three things that I wanted to share about today:
- Liza and Buddy arrived safely and have already unloaded their things, set up their bedroom, found the local grocery store, signed up for emails from it, gone out to dinner at Chili's, found their new church for Sunday and plan on job hunting on Friday. They are so happy!
- We texted and talked a few times today. Liza made some comment about their next move to Florida. I said, "Whoa? WHAT?" She said, "Well, Buddy will be getting his Masters in Florida, so we'll be there for that." I said, "Wait a minute. You said three years in Phoenix. No one ever said a thing about Florida." Buddy teased, "Well, you don't think we'd tell you anything like that before we got out of the state, do you?" I won't think about that today. I'll think about that in three years.
- Denise, Wendy and I went to see "The Help" today. Lovely story. The movie has "Oscar" written all over it. AMAZING performances. The movie is long. It's clean. It's a bit hard to watch because it's so not how we should treat people. It hit a little too close to home for me in a few spots because of my childhood. Being raised in the south, I related a lot. LOVED it. It's done with very few liberties away from the book, but it's very serious. I remember laughing out loud lots during the book. Not too many laughs in the movie. Again, it's a beautiful story, but take tissues and don't expect it to be a "feel good" movie, because it's really not. A definite "Must See" movie. Love it.
Two tender mercies that I'm appreciating:
- Melanie's sign for Liza and Buddy. I shared the story 20 times today and it's really been a happy moment/memory in Liza and Buddy's move. Melanie's gift was truly a tender mercy/gift to me.
- Dad was sleeping in the night and woke up from a dream at3:30 in the morning. He felt like he needed to go through a stack of papers that he's not paid attention to in years. In the paper, he found some names and dates for family history dating back to 1838 in the family line that I've hit a dead end! I'm so excited to work on this a bit more before seeing him next month! He mailed the papers to me today!
One other thing I'm focusing on right now:
- My Relief Society lesson this morning is on being like little children in our lives. I'm pondering lots of things that I've learned from my children.
Life is good.
Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.
I saw The Help today too with a girlfriend. I absolutely LOVED it.

I THOUGHT that was you walking out of the theater from the early matinee. I was dying to hear your assessment of The Help, knowing you'd kind of lived it. I totally agree with you. Bottom line I enjoyed it, but I also expected to laugh more and cry less.
