A few ramblings today....
- I was checking Facebook today and saw a first day of school photo of one of my cyber friends' children. It was the strangest thing. My thought was "Holy cow! I knew her before this child was even born!" Then, I thought, "Wait! I don't really know her. We've never met." I thought about the many years that we've been "Friends" and how the internet is such a major part of my life. HOLY COW! Life has changed. Cyber dating, cyber bullying, cyber shopping, cyber friends. Life has changed. It's a normal part of our lives today and we do know eachother sometimes. I've got cyber-friends that I've been through marraige, divorce, death, illnesses, grandchildren, children, graduations, job losses, adoptions, you name it that I've never even "met" in real life. BUT, I've also got "skin friends" (people that I do see face to face) that I've gone through less with. Thank you to all of my cyber-friends for being my friends! You're just as real as the ones who live up the street!
- Keep the crock pot recipes coming. I'll choose a winner and post on Monday. Thanks for sharing! My mouth is watering!
- My house is making me so happy! Doug came right home from work and got right to painting again. I'm loving the new paint and can't wait for spring to finish the rest of the redo!
- Only a week to go! I don't count tomorrow and I don't count next Thursday or Wednesday because that day never counts since you can just say "tomorrow" instead of so many more days. I can't wait!
- I am setting a tablescape for company tomorrow!
- For the record, peaches and 2% milk isn't quite as tasty as peaches and cream. But, it's still tasty!
- Last five quarts of green beans in the pressure canner as I type. Thanks, Connie!
- Quayd is working on getting a "six-pack" by weightlifting. He started today. When he came home, he didn't want to wear his shirt so that I could see his muscles. ;)
And the recipe... a crock pot recipe sent in by Pamela. Thanks, Pam! I can't wait to make this one!
Pork Roast and Apples
1 pork roast, seasoned with salt and pepper and browned in oil
4 cups granny smith apples, cut in wedges or sliced
1 small onion, chopped
1 c. brown sugar
1 T. garlic powder
1 T. cinnamon
Spray large crockpot with non-stick cooking spray. Place apples in bottom of crockpot, then the pork roast. Put the onions on top. Mix the dry ingredients and sprinkle on top of roast and apples. I like to scrape any drippings from the pan that I browned the roast in on top of all, but not necessary. Cover. Cook on low 8-10 hours. Serve with potatoes and salad.
Enjoy!
The question in life is not "how much time do we have?" The questions is "what shall we do with it?"
How amazing that we often have more in common with our cyber friends than with our real life ones! Thanks for the recipes, I emailed you some more crockpot recipes, hope you like them.
