We did nothing all weekend long...other than church, I never left the house. Doug worked and I did some fun paper-crafting, watched a few ollllld DVDs, played a bit with the kids and that's about it. Doug and rotated who went to church for which meetings because ZJ woke up feeling queasy, which is apparently going around. Several people at church mentioned it too. Lovely. I did have fun making a fun Valentine's Banner for friend, Marilyn...so much that after I was done, I decided that I needed a smaller version for myself. A sneak peak yesterday, I'll post the rest in February!
A few ramblings....
- I have decided that I'm ready for spring. If it's not going to be winter, it might as well be spring, right? ;) Still waiting for that blizzard and am reminded of about six years ago when we got 30" of snow that came in one overnight storm in March a few years ago. I loved that storm but would much prefer that kind of snow in January, thank you.
- ZJ is A.MAZ.ING. She's the most right brained child of my six. She received a sewing machine for Christmas. I've taught her a few basics, but she comes upstairs with stuffed animals, Barbie clothes "that are modest", all sorts of things. She's a scrapbooker, a seamstress, an artist, a writer. Now, she's a "mender". Doug asked her to mend something for him. And she came upstairs with her jeans on for school last Friday, having sewn on her own patch. It will last only one washing, but she said, "That's okay, I can change it that way." I love it. I heart her.
- A cute new couple in the ward, spoke in our Sacrament Meeting. Darling. Married six weeks. As she was speaking, Quayd knowing that cinnamon rolls were on my agenda and couldn't stop thinking about them, quietly leaned over to me and said, "Mom, I think that they need some cinnamon rolls to welcome them into the ward." I'm not sure if he was being thoughtful or assuring that I make them. Gracie offered to help with dinner (I heart her too) and that changed the menu, so I'll be baking tomorrow. The boy needs cinnamon rolls!
- I was asked to sign a "release" paper for Quayd to begin taking Seminary next year. Seminary is a Scripture Study Class that LDS youth grades 9-12 take daily. They get to take the class during school hours as an "released-time" elective. It's a great learning opportunity for them. I love Seminary and was so grateful for the things I learned "way back when" because I'd just barely joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and knew nothing. LOVE Seminary. Do NOT love the fact that my boy is old enough to be taking it! First Seminary and next thing ya know, we're talking dating and graduations and a two year mission. It's all happening so fast! I heart my boy!
- I've challenged myself to notgo to Chili's for one week. Not just Chili's but to not eat out for one week. AND to not drink pop for the whole week either. It's frightening, I know. ;) I've done well so far. No pop or anything purchased since Friday at noon. Denise called at 10:15 Sunday night. We were so strong and committed at the beginning of the conversation. We can do it. We can. Then, by the end of the call, we were saying, "Well, we'll see tomorrow. Call me in the morning. Well, you have to go out to to to the post office, so we may as well go out since you're already out. Maybe we could go someplace else. Maybe we can just not drink pop but still go to Chili's.... " Yeah. We'll see how this goes. Such willpower.
- February tablescape is set. I couldn't wait. More of that willpower.
- I feel a painting spree coming on. Just saying.
- Life is really, really good.
It is better to have a life of "Oh, Wells" than a life of "What ifs".
I did really good on the "no pop" challenge for about six months. I've fallen off the wagon, big time. Need to get back on. Aside from one night of carry-out, we've not eaten out in over two weeks. You can do it!
