Gracie and I were in the pool alone last night. (Could she be any more beautiful, says the proud mama!) She was wearing her snorkel and seeking the water torpedoes as I tossed them here and there in the water. We'd been doing this for about 45 minutes when she came up from the below, removed her snorkel and said, "Oh, Mom! There's something important that I need to tell you!" She'd not said a word for all of the time that we'd been in the water, only motioned with her hands for me to throw them again and again. So, I had no clue what would be so important. "You are the best mom in the whole world and I love you soooooooooo much!" She put her snorkel back in and dove down for another torpedo. (BTW, I love this photo of Gracie yesterday and it's not enhanced at all. She's a little tanned, would you say.)
Later, as we were getting ready for bed, ZJ randomly said, "Mommy, Guess what!? I really love you. A whole lot. A whoooooole lot!"
Then, last night, as I was tucking Quayd into bed, after a day of Quayd with attitude and not wanting him to go to bed with the same, I kissed his toes and told him "I love your toes!" and then his heels and said, "I love your heels!" and this his ankles, "I love your ankles!" I worked my way slowly up his body and paused at his neck. He sat there waiting for more, all grins, and finally said, "What else?" He apologized for having been cranky earlier and said, "Mom, I'm gonna be the best ape ever!" (a favorite line from Tarzan) and went to bed happy.
Is there anything better? There's no such thing as too much love. Enough said!
Love is happiness given back and forth.
