It was twenty below zero yesterday morning when it was time for the kids to go to the bus. ZJ was home again with her stomach, so I took Quayd and Grace to the bus. We sat there for 27 minutes until the bus arrived. Late again. The deisel engined buses do not do well in this extreme cold. Unfortunately, there is a valley of children having to stand out in the cold and wait for the bus drivers to get there. The kids have been crowding into the buses that do run. It's been a nightmare. Yesterday morning, as cold as it was, I'd have like to have seen the schools closed just so that kids didn't have to risk that long wait in the such severe cold. My kids were not complaining at all to wait in the heated Expedition.
ZJ... she's better this morning. What are we going to do with her. Last time we went this route, the surgeon said that they'll probably end up removing her appendix and hoping it makes a difference. We don't want surgery just to "try" and fix the problem. But, nothing else seems to be helping. We've tried no gluten, we've tried no dairy. Hmmmmm. And this time, it's not stress or drama.
Speaking of which, Kelly called last night to say thank you for the Firehouse gift card that we'd given them for Christmas. They'd never eaten at Firehouse and she called just ranting about how delicious everything was. I seriously and thrilled to see the "new and improved, working her way out of "time out" " Kelly. She's been a delight!
The kids are out of school today for Parent Teacher Conferences. It's lightly snowing off and on. It rarely snows when it is this cold (Seven Degrees), but any snow is lovely! The house is very quite. ZJ volunteered to do kitchen. Quayd is writing a script for a new creation. Grace is doing her puzzle. Ahhhhh. Peace. And for me...laundry calls my name. The joy of motherhood, right? ;)
Gee, there's not much to talk about these days. I'm certainly not complaining that there's nothing exciting in the negative way. BUT, my blog is boring ME! I guess I need to find some new recipes to try and share. Or have a party. Or something!?!? Any ideas. Right now, Keep warm is the idea on all of our minds the most!
Life is good!
The life you live is the lesson you teach.
The school is quite a drive away and the bus stop is just a block away. If I had known it was late, I'd definitely have just driving them the whole way. AFTER I got dressed. I usually drive to the busstop in my jammies. I did call the bus person at the school district and suggested that they create a facebook account so that they could just post it on FB when things are behind. At least that way, we could each spread the word. With smartphones, the kids could check it while sitting at the bus stop and call their folks, if they had to. It would be really helpful, mho. Love you, Susan! Talk to ya soon!

just wondering why you don't drive the kids to school or is that not done in your area? Or do your schools sometimes call off too late for you to get the info ( likes ours has done in the past...pre computer age). Glad you got your snow...just hate the cold. We have been springlike and it's been great!
