Last night, I met Carol and Taylor at Chili's for a treat. When I left, I had "kids". When I returned, two hours later, I had teenagers. Doug and Quayd were just walking in from Quayd's first drive!!! Doug had taken Quayd out into the boonies to let him start getting used to being behind the wheel. He looked at Doug, who'd already called to tell me, and asked, "Should I tell Mom?" Ya think!? I can't even let my mind go there... Quayd driving. NOOOOOOOOOOO! It just can't be! He doesn't want the girls to know yet, for some reason? This morning, as he was walking out the door to the bus stop, Doug was at the door with me. Quayd stopped. "Um, Dad. Can we do that one thing again today?" Aye, aye, aye.
The girls were in the kitchen baking sugar cookies for their friends. I think that they found the recipe on YouTube. That's their "go to" place since getting their Kindle Fires. It's a riot! I'll be sharing Carol and Denise's sugar cookie recipe with them for future use...rich, creamy, buttery, soft sugar cookies. I had the girls put them in tupperware with two slices of bread to help soften them up a bit. This morning, they were still hard, but at least, they were chewable and not bricks.
As the girls were packaging the cookies for friends this morning, one broke.
ZJ: Oh, no! One broke!
Grace: I'm so sorry, Zeej.
ZJ: It's okay, Grace. But, thank you for being there in my time of need.
ZJ announced that it's unfair that she and Grace, who are not just sisters but friends, won't be at the same school again until Grace is a Senior. The girls are getting along very well. I hope that they can always be good friends! It's fun to watch them together.
A few minutes later, Grace was telling me she was worried about a girl that she's known since elementary school, who has started hanging around with kids "that are not making good choices". I'm so glad that she recognizes this. Then, ZJ, being funny, pops out, "Oh, no! She's gone to the dark side!" Quayd quickly responded, "They say the dark side has better cookies." Apparently some kid on the bus has a Darth Vader T-shirt that says this. They all got it and busted out laughing. Our home... never a quiet or dull moment!
Yesterday, I received the most darling Valentine card in the mail from one of my favorite scrapbooking friends, Kip. The card was darling and when I thanked her last night, I told her that it almost made me want to do a little papercrafting! Almost.
Today is one of my dearest, oldest friends, Susan's birthday. Happy Birthday, Susan! We love you!
My friend, Ruth, shared this on Facebook today. Doug said it's a must share! It's SO true!

Doug is off today! Not sure what his plan is, but I think we're having a day date. It's supposed to snow all weekend. I'm hoping that these knee injections will allow me to get in at least one cross country ski date this winter before the snow is all melted. I'm racing the clock because spring is on it's way! Not this weekend, but it's coming. For now, I'm still loving winter! It is, after all, only February! Life is good!

Love this article your friend posted on Facebook. So true!
