Just for the record... we have the strangest plant growing in our front yard. We did not plant it. At first, when it started to grow, I wanted to pull it. Of course, Mr. GranolaMan said, "No, let's see what it is!" I'm so glad that we did! It's just plain strange. It looks like a zucchini plant. Connie says it looks like a pumpkin plant. Here's the deal. We think it's some sort of strange cross. We assumed it was a pumpkin seed from last fall that had landed or something??? Here's the plant.
But, here's the strange thing about it. It's growing several different kinds of "fruit". It grows zucchini.
And it grows these funky orange squash that started out looking like pumpkins but they are not getting long and look more like spaghetti squash.
And then there is this yellow looking thing that's growing.
And somewhere in there is the cutest little green perfectly shaped pumpkin, but I couldn't find it to take it's little picture. This is all growing from one plant. And we didn't even plant it! It's huge! It's taking over the whole front flowerbed, but it's been so fun to watch grow, that we are just not mowing underneath it and letting it "go for it!" I have cooked the green ones that look like zucchini. They taste like zucchini but have more of the large seeds like a crookneck. I think I should have entered these fruit into the county fair and won a blue ribbon for "Funkiest Plant!"
Life is good. Sometimes it's crazy, like this plant, but it's good!
A bad day doesn't make a bad life.
