We're almost done with the girls rooms! Today, we'll finish going through the drawers and the bookshelves and be done! Grace said last night, "Mom, I can't believe it! I love my new room even better than the old one!" SCORE! ZJ's thrilled to have the bigger room but right now, we're doing all of the dejunking and work in her room, so it's not there yet! Give us a few hours!
Kelly was able to see Zaylee for her first visit yesterday. I worried about how Zaylee would behave afterward. Other than one little "moment", she did well. As soon as we were home again, she was fine. One of my favorite things... when Zaylee first came to stay, she didn't want to pray and didn't want to participate in family prayer. When we sang "the temple song", she said, "My daddy hates that song!" She'd forgotten the words. For the last two days, she's asked to say the prayer at dinner and bedtime. And when I was lying by her side at naptime, she said, "Gwammie, can you sing me the temple song?" Here's last night's cute "bright" just brushed my teeth before bedtime smile!
The girls and I met Denise at Chili's for lunch. I think I've been to Chili's twice this summer? After lunch, we went to Hobby Lobby, or HabaLaba, as we have renamed it again. The aisles with the Eiffel Towers and other teen accessories had the girls oohing and aahing so loud that they could be heard anywhere in the store. Christmas is coming!
After Zaylee's nap, we picked up where we'd left off on the rooms. We worked til bedtime and once the kids were down, I started a puzzle last night. When I purchased it, I thought, "Oooh, subway sign! Fun!" Since starting it, I've thought, "WHAT was I thinking!?" If I ever get the border completed, I'm sure it will be easier. I stayed up til 2 working on it and got no where! CRAZY, I know!
We are at that point of summer when we begin "water rationing". Our watering days are now Tuesday and Friday between 6PM and 8AM. I kid you not, everyone's lawns are so thirsty! I had to run Grace over to the church for a quick meeting last night and it was almost comical to see everyone on the block outside watering all at once. The joys of living in the desert! Doug normally does it, but, I'm on water duty this week. Thankfully, friend and neighbor Trisha, who's also on water duty for her husband, texted me every time she moved her water all evening and I'd go out and move mine too. I know... I could have set my phone just as easily, but it was much more fun this way! It's great to have great neighbors!
Speaking of dessert, we drove past A&W on our way to the church. The marquis said, "Free Root Beer Floats August 6th!" Grace got all excited and I said that we'd stop on the way back, if it wasn't too crowded. Grace looked at me like, "HELLO??" There were two cars in the parking lot. We came back fifteen minutes later and there wasn't an empty park in the lot, the drive up window line was all the way out on the street. CRAZY! We came home and made our own!
Mom and I had a good conversation this morning. Rick and the trucks arrived later Monday evening. She said that bringing her and Boyd's homes and furniture together in the home has been an adventure, but she's so happy to be in a home of their own! Rick is there for a few days, hanging things and moving furniture. I'm glad that he can be there to help her.
The girls and I want to get the rooms done and then possibly take in a movie this afternoon. That is... if the puzzle isn't screaming my name too loudly! Life is good!
