I'm going to try to attach some pix today and see if the laptop will cooperate. Praying here.... This afternoon, Doug was outside pruning the fruit trees. I love that he has this talent! He's very good at it and, as long as I don't watch, it's awesome! When I watch, I see thousands of cherries and peaches and plums and apples going to the compost pile before they ever were "born". But, he promises me, each time, that the ones we do have will be large and healthy because of his pruning! I love it! I love him!
I was really pleased when Quayd came home, saw us in the back yard, walked straight outside and started picking up the trimmings. Quayd and I have been talking a lot about "chivalry" (a word that works for him because it sounds much cooler than "good manners") and he's captured it... from leaping out, running around and opening my car door to offering seats to others to asking "Would anyone like the last piece of pizza?" (Quayd, it's usually, "Would anyone like the last whole pizza?") The second he picked up the first branch, I said, "WOW! BABE! Did you see Quayd just walk right out here and get to work without even being asked!" ( PRAISE LOUDLY!!! Love it!) I do love seeing these two guys together! They are an amazing team!
After dinner, I went to Book Group and it was just too fun! I love when my friend, April, hosts! She always goes the extra mile and being around April always means FUN! And I happen to be a FUN-lover! April had some fun new treats from Trader Joes, which is new in Salt Lake City. I've not been yet, but I'm ready, for sure, now!
The discussion was quite interesting. We had a lot of laughs, which is one of the big things that, according to our read, is important!
I loved the book, the topic of finding more happiness in life. It's different than most reads we've chosen, but it was definitely inspiring. There was lots of discussion about how the book has influenced us in our own lives. If you've not read the book, it's worth, at least, checking it out from the library. It was actually the first book that I downloaded on my Kindle when Kindles were brand new.
The book is based on fact, in case you've never heard, from a woman who decided to search for more happiness in her already happy life. She breaks it down into twelve categories, one for each month of the year. I loved the chapter on money, July, and also the chapter where she spoke of making memories. She keeps it real that life isn't always going to be happy, but we can find more happiness and joy in our lives. Really, a fascinating read.
Doug's birthday project made major headway today! Monday is my goal to complete it! Then, I can relax and enjoy the journey! ZJ's birthday is also planned except for one last gift! Life is good! Sometimes silly, but very, very good!
BE CRAZY, BE SILLY, BE STUPID, BE WEIRD. BE WHATEVER BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE ANYTHING BUT HAPPY!
