It's Soup Day! We had to turn on the furnace this morning! There's something about the sound of that furnace kicking on the first time of the year that excites me. (I'm also grateful for equal-pay on the Questar Gas bill! wink-wink!) It is twenty-seven degrees, this morning. We hope that the garden survived... it was all covered in tarps, but it is cold! I'm slightly happy about this turn of weather! Potato soup or Veggie? Cornbread or homemade whole wheat? I love this day!
Yesterday was a HAPPY DAY! I am so excited! Since the first of June, I've not done much of anything other what was necessary. Yesterday, I'd had enough of this "taking it easy", babying the knees and foot. I decided that it was time to kick it in gear, cowboy up and get with the program. So, I waited till Doug and Quayd got home and put them to work! LOL "We" rearranged the living room and made some furniture changes in our bedroom. Right now, at 5AM, my kitchen is filled with Halloween decoration bins, waiting to be put out. Normally, this would have been done days ago, but hey, I'm on the mend and it's happening now! SO glad!
Today, I will create a fun Halloween tablescape. The only thing that I've done, aside from laundry, cooking and giving orders, in the past few months was my September tablescape. No June, July or August. I kept this one quite simple but at least, I did it! I also finally photographed September's tablescape last night. I do love these sunflower bowls!
I'm anxious to hear the news today about the presidential debate outcome. I have to admit that it brought tears to my eyes, as the debate began. I couldn't help but think about the blessing of being able to live in this wonderful nation, where a debate is even possible! Being a Republican today, but raised as a Democrat, I really could see both sides of the table. It was interesting to hit pause on the TiVo and listen to Doug's comments and in my mind, I could hear my Granddaddy's thoughts, as well. It will be an exciting political few weeks, no doubt. God bless America, land that I love!
Today's to do list includes finishing the October decorating, some baking and Natalie and I are celebrating my birthday. The celebration will includes lots of Cokes and lots of laughs, imagine that! I'm excited! It's the most wonderful time of the year! And I can honestly say that every day from now until January! Life is good!
If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face
like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.
