I'm exhausted after three nights of less than three hours of sleep. It's been a fun weekend, just having Doug home and getting things done around the house. We ate a lot, laughed a lot, talked a lot and slept very little. He went to bed tonight just after 6!
On Friday night, we had Layne and Julie and their son come over at 10:30PM, to have a fire and make s'mores. We gabbed until 12:30 and just laughed and enjoyed the beautiful evening outdoors. After they left, we cleaned up and Doug and I decided to hottub until almost 1:30. I was pretty wound up still and read a bit to try to get to sleep. I read something disturbing regarding a friend and couldn't stop thinking, praying and worrying about them after that, so sadly, it was 4:59 the last time I looked at the clock. Another restless night! Dang!
Saturday, we spent most of the day preparing for our lesson. The week had been so chaotic that we'd not had a lot of time together to sit down and decide who did what in the lesson. (We both read and study it through the week, but we plan it together at the end of the week.) The class went well that evening. We watch our class walk away and always just hug and express gratitude for their goodness and input! We are loving the class.
Father's Day was quiet but I tried to make it fun for Doug. Breakfast in bed... omelette, bacon, fresh fruit, toast and avocado. For dinner, it was salmon and burgers on the grill, homemade French fries, a veggie tray and cheesecake. Within moments of finishing dinner, Doug spent some time with Liza on facetime and then was in bed.
Highlights of the weekend...
- watching the sunset from Sonic over strawberry shakes with the girls
- lunch at Firehouse
- double date with the Bs at Black Pearl
- time with the kids
- hottubbing every chance we get
- a little latenight excitement from a college-age neighbor's party
- an impromptu visit from two of our favorite and oldest friends, Jim and Kristy!
Seriously, a very quiet weekend. We didn't go to Summerfest Arte Fair, which has been tradition. We didn't do any major projects. No big events at all... just a lovely warm summer weekend at home! Life is good. Very very good. It's 11:11 and I'm calling it a night early too! HAPPINESS!!
